Introduction Welcome! I am Gandalf on the MR2OC Forum, and other forums. This website documents the projects, progress, and permutations of my 1988 Toyota MKI MR2, provides the Ultimate A2W Tips and Tricks Guide, and features many CyKlops Custom Creations innovations. It was originally a 4agze (supercharged) car, which saw an SC14 supercharger upgrade, and in 2002-2003 my "dream swap" was performed by Carl Crawford, inserting the 1992 JDM (=USDM 1993) 2.0L 3SGTE Turbo engine from a JDM MR2 rear clip, making it an MKI.5. At the time, it was only the sixth of its kind in the world, and the first in Canada. Now our MKI.5 community has grown to sixty or more worldwide! And I can remember when I first researched the swap, I was told it was impossible...
The Goal for my car: I want a reliable daily driver (I drive it only in the summer, and in good weather if I can help it) with excellent drivability, that can do 0-60mph in the 4-second range and run 12-second quarter miles. I also would like to take it on road courses when I have the opportunity, and so the handling, braking, and weight distribution are also priorities. Keeping the spirit of Toyota as much as possible is a priority, but the decisions I make are based on performance needs, new technologies, and creative application of what I learn. I tend to overbuild somewhat to leave room for the for the future, and do all of the work myself. Teaching myself to TIG weld was important for a number of current projects to proceed. The power-goal is 350 rwhp, low IAT's, low boost on pump gas, and early spool. It's getting there... currently on the stock ecu and fuel still, but now making 300whp and 260rwtq, and spooling the GT3040/3082 to 200rwtq by 3490 RPM (a record for this turbo on a 3sgte). The car has seen many changes over the past decade, including complete suspension, additional electronics, and everything in the engine bay besides the actual engine. Here is how things previously looked (until 2013):
